Contractee and manufacturer: Braun AG, Frankfurt

The SK 4 has a key position in the reformation of Braun. It is no longer a “Furniture for Sound” but changes to a sort of fine mechanical character. The construction of the sides is similar to the G-series but the housing is of dominant sheet metal which allowed a cheap production. The chassis is specially made for handling from above. Dieter Rams had the idea of the transparent cover. The shape of the record player was designed by Wilhelm Wagenfeld and his team.
The device also known as “Schneewittchensarg” (= Snow White coffin in English) was tecnically improved several times and sold as SK 4 to SK 6.
The SK 4 is exhibited at the Museum Of Modern Art, New York and at Centre George Pombidou, Paris as a milestone of design
